We here at Heartsent are all so excited about our new blog! Please check our pages often as there will be constant updates and announcements about all of our various programs! As many of you may know there are many changes taking place in Taiwan currently regarding adoption but this does not mean that we are slowing down at all, in fact we have many children who are waiting patiently and who we are working hard to find loving forever homes for. This week's waiting children are Shih, Chiao-I and her adorable baby brother (who we just learned about!) Lee, En-Chi.
Chiao-I
is a quiet, responsible girl who has expressed her desire for a stable family
where she can grow and find the love she has been missing in her life. Recently
her birthmother gave birth to a younger brother, En-Chi, and the caregivers are
hoping that the two children can grow and thrive together in the same loving
home.
Chiao-I was found begging on the
roadside in 2009, and was reported and taken in by Social Services. It was soon
learned that the birthmother and her live-in boyfriend had been physically
abusive and neglectful of Chiao- I for years. It was reported that the
birthmother did not fulfill her responsibilities as a caretaker and did not
regularly feed the girl. Chiao-I was never sent to school by her birthmother
and Social Services took Chiao-I in as an emergency case. The girl was placed
in foster care and is entitled to the Mild Retardation Handicapped Handbook.
The social worker suspects her mild mental retardation is due to lack of
stimulation from the birth family. Chiao-I has made great cognitive improvements
since being placed with a foster family. She has adjusted well to her new
environment and received an improvement award for her progress. Since being in
foster care, she no longer has nightmares. She is a quiet girl who responds
well to conversations using simple words. She enjoys playing yo-yo and won 4th
place in a county yo-yo competition!
En-Chi
is an adorable baby boy who is already eating mashed porridge, vegetables, egg
yolk, fish and meat! He was born premature with suspected Mecouium Aspiratoin
Syndrome and needed some respiratory help but was discharged because his
conditions improved. Please contact us if you would like more information about this
amazing sibling pair!
